The historic village of Ighil Imoula has secured first place in the 13th edition of the 'Rabah Aissat' competition, which awards the cleanest village in the Tizi-Ouzou province. The results were announced Thursday at the Mouloud Mammeri House of Culture by the Provincial People's Assembly (APW). Ighil Imoula, in the Ouadhias municipality, was awarded a prize of six million dinars, followed by Iguer Amrane (Aït Zikki) and Ait Tighilt (Mekira) in second and third place. Out of 35 participating villages, eleven were recognized for their environmental efforts. Launched in 2006, the initiative has expanded from basic sanitation criteria to a comprehensive development model that fosters community spirit and heritage preservation, now serving as a subject of extensive academic research across Algerian universities.
