Oran Criminal Court sentences drug trafficking network members
The Oran Criminal Court of Appeal has sentenced six individuals to significant prison terms following the dismantling of a drug trafficking network in the Naâma province. The charges included the import, possession, and distribution of narcotics, as well as participation in a criminal organization and the illegal carrying of hunting rifles. The investigation began after intelligence regarding smuggling operations near the border in Mekmen Ben Amar. Authorities seized large quantities of treated cannabis and weaponry during separate operations. Two Moroccan nationals, who confessed to working for a handler known as "Cheikh" for cash rewards, received 15-year prison sentences each. The sentences for the remaining four defendants in the case range from 10 to 20 years of imprisonment.
