Three European Nations Seek to Expand Algerian Gas Imports
The Czech Republic, France, and Germany are moving to boost their energy imports from Algeria as part of a strategy to diversify supply chains and stabilize their energy security. Prague is aiming to double its annual intake under its contract with Sonatrach to 400 million cubic meters, a move intended to lower reliance on Russian gas. Meanwhile, France has requested an accelerated supply of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to address market instabilities. Germany is also set to receive additional volumes through an ongoing agreement between Sonatrach and the German firm VNG. These actions underscore Algeria's strengthening role as a vital energy provider for Europe, leveraging both pipeline exports and LNG shipments.
