Paris avoids making concrete commitments regarding Algerian students
The French government has avoided providing specific guarantees to ease administrative procedures and residency permit renewals for Algerian students in France, following a parliamentary inquiry by MP Emmanuel Duplessy. Rather than addressing the administrative hurdles and visa refusals highlighted by the MP, authorities offered only general statements regarding international student reception strategies. The legislator had warned that the ongoing tensions surrounding the 1968 migration agreement were negatively impacting the academic progress and mental well-being of Algerian students, who constitute a significant portion of the international student body in France.
