Preserving National Memory: New Book Documents Revolutionary Testimonies in the Aurès
Journalist Yacine Nadir Ababou has released a documentary book titled "Tell Me About the Revolution in the Aurès," published by "Khayal," representing 17 years of investigative fieldwork. Spanning 257 pages, the work goes beyond a collection of press articles, serving as a vital archive for oral history in the Aurès region. The author delves into the roots of popular resistance, documents key historical sites, and captures rare testimonies from revolutionary leaders and veterans, including details regarding Mostefa Ben Boulaïd and the experiences of female fighters. The book also highlights the role of the Amazigh language as a vessel for historical memory and covers unique stories, such as that of the pro-independence activist known as "Zohra the German." The book acts as a message of dedication from the post-independence generation to safeguard national history from oblivion.
