Netherlands withdraws from Eurovision over participation of Zionist entity
The Netherlands has officially confirmed its withdrawal from the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, citing the inclusion of the Zionist entity amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza that began in October 2023. Jurre Bosman, the NPO's media director, stated that the decision follows consultations with the Broadcasters' Council, noting that the controversy surrounding this participation has caused significant societal division. This follows Ireland’s confirmed withdrawal and support for a boycott from the head of Spanish public television. Similar protests occurred during the 2026 contest, when five countries chose to skip the event to demonstrate against the situation in Gaza.
