Algeria is set to invest 20.48 billion dinars into its mining sector in 2027, according to the Minister of Mines and Mining Industry. The initiative aims to accelerate major infrastructure projects, expand mineral exploration, and maximize the value added to the national economy. Key strategic priorities involve advancing the Gara Djebilet iron ore mine, the integrated phosphate project, and the Tala Hamza-Oued Amizour zinc and lead facility. The roadmap also includes funding for national geological and mining agencies to enhance technical capabilities. Furthermore, the strategy emphasizes increasing local content, training Algerian workers, and fostering partnerships with small and medium enterprises. Environmental protection and the safety of local populations remain key requirements for the implementation of all ongoing and future mining developments.
