Launch of a National Research Network for Animal Health and Production
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, has launched a thematic research network in Algiers dedicated to animal production and health. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between Algerian researchers at home and abroad to strengthen the nation's food security. The network involves 70 laboratories, over 300 researchers, and more than 100 doctoral students. Initial findings are expected within six months, with current studies focusing on hybrid sheep breeds and livestock feed. During the launch event, three research agreements were signed, covering topics such as genetic diversity in sheep, addressing bacterial resistance in livestock, and utilizing natural alternatives to antibiotics in poultry farming.
