During the World Investment Forum held in Doha, Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), presented the country's advancements in reforming its investment landscape. He highlighted the overhaul of legal frameworks, the digitization of services, and simplified administrative procedures as key drivers for economic development. During a high-level panel, Rekkache emphasized that Algeria's focus has shifted towards ensuring projects are fully realized and integrated into the local productive ecosystem. He further explained the synergy between the AAPI and the National One-Stop-Shop, while noting that special economic zones are vital for boosting local supply chains and exports. Additionally, Rekkache urged for a revision of performance metrics for investment agencies, advocating for the evaluation of real outcomes such as job creation, technology transfer, and actual production instead of just announced investment volumes.
