While demand from European nations continues to rise—evidenced by new agreements with partners like Germany and Italy—Algeria faces the challenge of managing a domestic consumption growth of 7%. The national energy company, Sonatrach, is currently implementing a $60 billion investment strategy to boost production to 200 billion cubic meters by 2030. Nevertheless, technical constraints and the steady rise in local energy needs currently prevent a significant surge in exports.
