Large Turnout Marks the 29th Algiers International Book Fair
The 29th Algiers International Book Fair began on Thursday, October 29, at the Safex exhibition center, coinciding with the autumn school break. Large crowds of students and literature enthusiasts gathered from the early hours to explore the various stands. A highlight of this edition is the return of several publishing houses, including Gallimard and Frantz Fanon, that were absent in recent years. The event features numerous book signings, such as Jugurtha Abbou’s new historical work about Ouali Bennaï. Additionally, Nina Chalah is presenting her debut book with Koukou Editions, which details her challenging professional experience in the Algerian southern oil fields, while announcing future plans to write about women’s contributions to the Revolution. The fair remains open to the public until November 7, reaffirming the enduring importance of reading in Algerian society.
