Azzedine Gaci, rector of the Villeurbanne mosque, has issued a message urging French Muslims to maintain composure and wisdom during times of tension. Emphasizing core Islamic values like mercy, justice, and patience, Gaci stated that violence, vandalism, and illegal acts have no place in the faith and are fundamentally contrary to its teachings. He reminded the community that living in a society requires honoring laws and civic duties. According to Gaci, the most effective response to hatred and provocation is not aggression, but exemplary, dignified, and peaceful behavior that reflects the true spirit of the faith.
