Riyad Mahrez's debut with Al-Shamal generated significant excitement in the Qatari league, leading to the season's first sold-out match against Qatar SC. Although the Algerian star scored a penalty, his team fell short with a 3-2 defeat. The club, which finished as runner-up last season, hopes that bringing in the international star will boost their performance as they prepare to compete in the AFC Champions League Elite.
