Local Elections: Electoral Authority sets strict legal guidelines for campaigning

The National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE) has issued a reminder to all political party candidates and independent lists regarding the legal framework for the upcoming municipal and provincial council elections scheduled for November 28. The official campaign period is set from November 5 to November 24, 2026, with any campaigning outside this window strictly prohibited. The authority emphasized the prohibition of hate speech, discrimination, the use of foreign languages, and the exploitation of public buildings, schools, or religious sites for political propaganda. Furthermore, the ANIE mandated fair media coverage, strict adherence to designated public billboard spaces, and a ban on publishing opinion polls 72 hours before the election day.
