Ramadan 2027 grant to undergo field checks before payment

The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport has instructed governors, district chiefs and mayors to tighten checks ahead of the 2027 Ramadan grant, set at 10,000 dinars. Field inquiries are intended to establish applicants’ actual social circumstances. The ministry also expects the number of recipients to rise compared with the previous year.

Applications will be accepted for 30 days, from October 11 to November 9, 2026. Heads of low-income households, or people acting on their behalf, may apply through the social affairs office in their municipality of residence or the ministry’s digital platform. The registration process is for new applicants. People who received the grant in 2026 will be entered automatically into the information system and will not need to apply again.

Applicants must provide a personal information form, a copy of their national identity card and a crossed postal cheque. Data must be entered into the system daily, with November 22, 2026 set as the deadline for adding information about new applicants. Details will be checked against the systems of the social security funds for employees and non-employees and the pension fund. Municipal services may also seek information from other relevant administrations and bodies.

Local teams will begin field inquiries as soon as applications are submitted and prepare a report for each investigation. Recipients from 2026 will also be checked despite their automatic registration. Anyone found ineligible may be removed from the list. The municipal social affairs office will then submit applications and inquiry findings to the local committee, which will draw up lists of approved and rejected applicants. A preliminary list will be published so rejected applicants can lodge appeals. The committee will examine and decide on the appeals before approving the final list in a formal record; rejected applicants’ names will then be removed from the system.

The ministry has called on municipalities to set aside the necessary funding, including the amount allocated from the state budget for the 2026 fiscal year. Local authorities are to contribute according to their means and monitor treasury resources to ensure funds are available. Budget planning should account for a possible rise in recipients, which the memo links to an increase in the guaranteed national minimum wage from 20,000 to 24,000 dinars. At the end of the process, the 10,000-dinar grant will be paid to approved households before Ramadan begins.
