Medical supply shortages halt burn treatment in Gaza as patient evacuations drop
Doctors Without Borders has warned that Israeli restrictions on essential medical supplies have brought the production of 3D-printed facial burn masks in Gaza to a standstill since October 14. This lack of specialized care poses a high risk of permanent disfigurement and disability for patients, particularly children. Meanwhile, Save the Children reported a 75% decline in the evacuation of wounded children for overseas treatment. Data from the Gaza Health Ministry confirms that over 21,000 patients and injured individuals are in urgent need of medical transfer. The ministry cautioned that the persistent closure of crossings and administrative delays have turned medical referrals into a critical obstacle, leading to the deterioration of conditions and the death of many patients while waiting for clearance.
