Ahead of the upcoming Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, Algerian and Russian experts discussed the future of digital sovereignty in Africa. Participants agreed that Algeria is well-positioned to serve as a central hub for developing and transferring Russian technologies, focusing on AI, cybersecurity, and energy digitalization. Researcher Mustapha Kamal emphasized that digital sovereignty is essential for political independence, urging a shift from importing solutions to local knowledge creation. Alexei Kuteshikov, an advisor at the Russian Embassy, stated that the ongoing collaboration with Algeria could serve as a blueprint for wider African engagement. Furthermore, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Eduard Cheremitsyev highlighted the importance of securing critical infrastructure, while experts noted that Algeria's robust energy sector and infrastructure provide an ideal foundation to scale Russian technological solutions across the African continent, fostering a partnership based on shared production rather than dependency.
