Ahead of the verdict due this Tuesday in Oran, Aïcha Dahdouh, wife of author Kamel Daoud, has issued a statement to deny accusations against her. The psychiatrist is accused of violating medical confidentiality after Saada Arbane, a victim of terrorism during the 1990s in Algeria, claimed her story was used in Daoud’s Goncourt-winning novel "Houris" through information allegedly leaked by Dahdouh. Refuting these claims, the psychiatrist insists she has always respected medical ethics. Furthermore, Dahdouh expressed that she does not share her husband’s views on Algeria, Islam, or Palestine, stating that their perspectives on how to regard the pain of others fundamentally differ.
