A repeat offender appeared before the Sidi M'hamed misdemeanor court after being caught in the act of stealing a bag from a young woman at the Grande Poste square in Algiers. The bag contained a mobile phone and 80,000 dinars. Prosecutors have requested a 3-year prison sentence and a fine of 100,000 DA. During the trial, the defendant admitted to the charges and expressed his intention to return the stolen items to the victim, who was absent from the hearing. The court has reserved its verdict for a later date.
