Tizi Ouzou hosts the play "Chérifa the Rebellious" in tribute to the Kabyle icon
The Mouloud-Mammeri House of Culture in Tizi Ouzou recently staged the musical play "Chérifa the Rebellious," honoring the life and artistic legacy of the Kabyle music legend, Ouardia Bouchemlal, known as Na Chérifa. Through a combination of poetry, narration, and iconic songs, actress Sandra Hamaidi portrayed the diva’s defiance against the social taboos of her time. The performance, accompanied by live music and dance, resonated deeply with the audience. Playwright Nassima Chillaoui expressed her gratitude for the warm reception during this national tour, which is scheduled to reach the Algerian National Theatre on October 30 and the "Cabaret Sauvage" in Paris on November 8. Nabila Goumeziane, Director of Culture and Arts for Tizi Ouzou, honored the cast at the conclusion of the event.
