Oran: Gradual removal of buses older than 25 years from service
The Oran transport directorate has initiated a process to gradually phase out public buses that have been in operation for over 25 years. This measure is part of a broader strategy to modernize the local transport fleet in alignment with the region's increasing urban and economic activity. According to the wilaya transport director, Riad Boudjemine, a dedicated committee is monitoring the implementation of these directives. The first phase focuses on raising awareness among transport providers, who are encouraged to consult authorities and submit their files to facilitate the replacement process. Incentive measures are being offered to assist professionals in purchasing newer vehicles. Ultimately, the authorities aim to enhance travel conditions and passenger safety while ensuring that public transport services remain operational throughout the transition.
