World Bank highlights Algerian economic resilience and structural priorities
Cemile Hacibeyoglu Ceren, resident representative of the World Bank Group in Algeria, has noted the notable resilience of the Algerian economy. GDP growth reached 3.8% in 2025, buoyed by a 5.4% increase in non-hydrocarbon sectors during the first half of the year. Investment grew by 13.2%, while inflation slowed to 1.4% over the first eleven months of 2025. Despite these positive indicators, the World Bank warns of a continued reliance on hydrocarbons and public spending. The institution emphasizes the need for structural reforms to boost productivity and diversify the economy, noting challenges posed by energy market fluctuations, climate change, and the necessity of creating sustainable jobs.
