November 28 Local Elections: Campaign Period Officially Starts November 5

The electoral campaign for the upcoming local elections, scheduled for November 28, 2026, will officially begin on November 5. Mohamed Lahcen Zeghidi, vice-president of the Independent National Authority for Elections (ANIE), announced the date following the ballot for media airtime allocation. Candidates have also signed an electoral code of ethics. The election sees a high level of participation, with 162,864 candidates across 6,065 lists for both municipal and provincial assemblies. This represents a significant increase in the number of contestants compared to the 2021 local elections, with growth rates of 22.7% and 13.56% for APC and APW respectively.
