Protests erupt at German airports over asylum seeker deportations
A wave of protests took place across various German airports to oppose the deportation and detention of asylum seekers. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at sites including Leipzig, Frankfurt, Berlin-Brandenburg, Cologne-Bonn, Düsseldorf, Munich, and Hanover. The protesters are calling for an immediate halt to deportations, specifically regarding flights to Afghanistan, and have criticized the government's collaboration with the Taliban. Activists argued that resources currently allocated to deportation infrastructure and detention facilities should instead be redirected toward social integration programs for refugees, emphasizing the right to asylum and freedom of movement.
