A significant signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Energy and Mines, formalizing contracts between the Algerian Water Company (ADE) and the Algerian Water Desalination Company (AEC). Attended by officials from the Ministries of Finance and Hydraulics, and Sonatrach, the agreements aim to optimize the operation of five major desalination plants located in El Tarf, Béjaïa, Boumerdès, Tipaza, and Oran. These facilities, launched in early 2025 as part of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's national program, will now benefit from improved technical maintenance and management. The initiative seeks to ensure the sustainability of public water services and protect vital national infrastructure.
