White meat prices have seen a sharp drop over the past week, falling by approximately 70 dinars per kilogram. Ali Ben Chaiba, head of the National Federation of Poultry Breeders, stated that chicken prices have stabilized around 450 dinars in many regions, hitting 430 dinars in Batna, with live chickens ranging between 320 and 330 dinars. This downward trend is driven by higher production levels and market regulation efforts. Conversely, egg prices remain high, with a wholesale tray costing around 560 dinars. This disparity is attributed to a temporary supply shortage linked to previous production cycles, though officials anticipate a potential decrease in the coming weeks as supply catches up.
