Algeria and Tunisia boost cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture
Algeria and Tunisia have signed a framework agreement between the Technical Training School for Fisheries and Aquaculture in El-Kala and the Maritime Fishing School in Tabarka. The pact, finalized during a workshop on dolphinfish fishing techniques, focuses on professional exchanges, curriculum development, and joint field training. A collaborative research project between national institutes in both nations will test fish aggregating devices to improve fishing techniques. Furthermore, the partnership includes plans for training visits, the sharing of scientific data on marine species, and a joint initiative to add value to seafood products like the blue crab. Both parties have also pledged to activate a 2025 cooperation agreement through biannual reviews and thematic workshops aimed at stimulating bilateral economic and investment partnerships.
