The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne held a key hearing this Thursday regarding the dispute over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. The case, registered as TAS 2026/A/12295, follows an appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The controversy stems from the final match, which Senegal initially won 1-0 before CAF’s appeals committee awarded a 3-0 victory to Morocco following a temporary exit of the pitch by Senegalese players. Senegal is now seeking to overturn the CAF ruling and have the on-field result reinstated. While all parties presented their arguments during the hearing, CAS officials, including Director General Matthieu Reeb, indicated that a final ruling could take weeks to be issued as the panel prepares a detailed legal decision.
