Niger receives first Algerian fuel shipment amid bolstered security and energy ties
Niger has received an initial shipment of 1,600 tons of gasoline from Algeria's Sebaa refinery to help address local fuel supply shortages. The handover ceremony took place in Agadez, where Nigerien officials expressed appreciation for the initiative, which was directed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Concurrently, an Algerian military convoy arrived in the Arlit region, following the Algerian Parliament's approval to deploy troops to protect strategic economic interests, particularly those involving the state-owned energy firm Sonatrach. This development underscores the strengthening of energy and security cooperation, as Algeria continues its exploration activities in the Kufra permit area.
