Moroccan authorities have expelled two international human rights activists from the city of Laâyoune in Western Sahara. Marianne Boge Stavik and André Christopher Bilitest, both 22, holding Norwegian and American citizenship, were visiting the region to assess human rights conditions and listen to accounts of violations, including testimonies from families of the 'Gdeim Izik' detainees. The activists were intercepted by plainclothes personnel and forced to travel to Agadir, a journey lasting 12 hours. This incident highlights a broader policy: since 2014, over 330 international observers, including journalists, lawyers, and human rights defenders, have been deported or denied entry to prevent independent monitoring of the occupied territory.
