Spain: Train collision in Toledo province leaves at least 30 dead
A serious train accident has occurred in the Urda area of Toledo province, located about 150 kilometers south of Madrid. A rear-end collision between two trains caused two carriages to derail and tumble down an embankment, resulting in at least 30 fatalities and multiple injuries. Following the incident, the Spanish railway infrastructure operator Adif announced a complete suspension of high-speed train services between Madrid and Andalusia until further notice. Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured and manage passenger evacuation. This event comes roughly nine months after the deadly Adamuz rail crash, which claimed 46 lives, and has reignited concerns regarding rail network safety in Spain.
