President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has decided to deploy units of the National People's Army (ANP) to the Republic of Niger. This move comes in response to a request from Nigerian authorities to protect the joint energy and economic interests of Algeria and Niger. The decision follows unanimous approval by both the Council of the Nation and the National People's Assembly during closed sessions held on October 25, 2026, in accordance with articles 30 and 91 of the Constitution.
