Palestine urges UN intervention over escalating crisis in the West Bank
The Palestinian representative to the UN, Riyad Mansour, has called for urgent international action to address the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. Highlighting a strict military siege on Hebron since last Friday, which affects 500,000 people, Mansour reported the forced displacement of over 3,000 residents and the destruction of roughly 500 homes. These actions, alongside mass arrests and the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque, were described as grave violations of international humanitarian law. Mansour demanded that the UN Security Council take decisive steps, including imposing arms embargoes and sanctions, to hold those responsible accountable and provide immediate protection to Palestinian civilians.
