Ladislav Zemánek: 'Algeria has the means to become a pivotal global player'

Czech political analyst Ladislav Zemánek argues that the current shift toward a multipolar world is not a descent into chaos, but a move toward a more democratic international order. He posits that this transition allows middle powers like Algeria to maximize their influence without falling into the trap of bloc dependency. Zemánek suggests that Algeria should transition from defensive neutrality to 'competitive non-alignment,' leveraging its strategic location to bridge economic gaps between Europe and Africa. He emphasizes that geopolitical autonomy is fragile without economic competitiveness, urging the country to improve its business climate. Furthermore, regarding technological sovereignty, he warns against total dependence on external providers in sectors like space and satellite data. By diversifying partnerships and ensuring control over critical infrastructures, Algeria can successfully establish itself as a significant, autonomous actor in the emerging polycentric system.
