Last Saturday, Algeria observed a minute of silence across the nation and at its diplomatic missions abroad to mark the 65th anniversary of National Migration Day, honoring the martyrs of the October 17, 1961, massacres in Paris. Following a presidential decree by Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ceremonies were held nationwide, including an official event in Boumerdès led by the Minister of Mujahedeen, Abdelmalek Tachrifet, under the theme 'From the depth of memory to the horizons of the future.' State institutions, such as the Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Communication, and the National People's Army, held commemorative activities to recall the sacrifices of Algerian emigrants who faced colonial repression with courage. In a formal message, President Tebboune emphasized the historical significance of this day, reiterating the state’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the Algerian diaspora and strengthening their connection to their homeland.
