UNICEF praises Algeria's successful polio vaccination drive
Algeria has successfully concluded its national polio vaccination campaign for 2025-2026, reaching over 4.5 million children and achieving a national coverage rate of 95% for those under five years of age. UNICEF has commended this achievement, highlighting Algeria's commitment to child health, its robust health preparedness, and the active participation of civil society. In a recent report, the organization emphasized that as long as the polio virus remains active in some parts of the world, children everywhere remain at risk. UNICEF, which procures one billion vaccine doses annually for children worldwide, called for greater international coordination to eradicate the disease and ensure every child's right to health and well-being.
